qtpatootiecth Posts: 6 want to booth rent but owner wont let me Posted: Friday, July 23, 2010 9:07:05 PM I have been at the same salon for almost 10 yrs. when i started there were other stylist renting, so i assumed i too would be able to one day. since then they left on bad terms and now she wont let me rent. she says she cant afford to b/c they ruined it for everyone else. why should i have to suffer b/c someone else did wrong. i am the top stylist there. i am booked every day with a waiting list to get in and i am there from 8:30 - 5 every day. what are your suggestions on what to do or other ideas besides renting.  i am topped out. the only way i can do better for myself is to rent, own my own salon or become part owner. HELP

ad Posts: 30 salon owner Posted: Thursday, July 29, 2010 11:38:15 AM 10 yrs is a long time you must have like working there very much ...can you ask for a little pay increase on your commission ....I am a salon owner myself booth renters do spoil it for every body else that is on commission they do put idear's in their heads how they being a fool it very hard to combine both and not have commission workers and booth renters at odds...you been there long enough for her to offer you a very good commission ...Booth rent is really a meth that you making more money the increase in income is no more than 25% if you break every thing down and it might be less if you move to another location to booth rent cause you might lose some cliants will the 25% be worth the lose of the cliants....booth rent salon do not have anything to offer because the owner income only covers rent a utilities.....very few of these places has long term workers like your self because of the enviroments ...everbody moves around so often....and soon the salon is out of bussiness.......I am seeing a lot of salons shutting down because of the ecconomy she just can't can't afford to do the rental I am experincing the same thing....
