Loss Of Perm Help
Posted: Friday, July 23, 2010 12:52:30 AM
My friend's grandma has lost a lot of her curl even after having a perm done, her curl is no where to be found.. Even though it could be a number of things from medication, to surgery, to etc etc.. I was wondering if perhaps the use of paul mitchell tea tree lavender mint shampoo would have a negative effect on it. My question is if anyone has had issues with stripping while using the Paul Mitchell shampoo after a color or a perm. Thank you.

products will hurt

jest, many products contain an over-abundance of silicone & silicone-derived ingredients. these elements will attach to the hair & cause insufficent results. imagine putting a plastic layer around each hair, its just too resistant to allow barley any perm solution to penetrate & do its job. its pretty hard to find any products that don't have any plastics in them. in my research, i found that Kiehls has the least amount so far. but you must strip her hair gently first, by using heat lamps first to heat any plastic coating that may be remaining. then a gentle abrasive clarifying shampoo or a bar soap like a seaweed or salt soap will help in removing excess build-up. you could also add good sea salt to a gentle shampoo & wash her hair & rinse, then put her under the heat lamps for 5-10 min @ a heat hot enough for her to handle but not to burn & repeat with a wash. do this 2-3 times & hopefully most of the plastic will be removed. finish with a cold-pressed olive or coconut oil mixed with heavy cream & 1tsp of white wine. this will help the hair but you also have to rebuild the protien structure before attempting another perm. or you could just find liquid magnesium & do a pre-treatment mixed with heavy cream, before the perm, then add 1 tsp of magnesium to the neutralizer. or do an air-oxidation perm. but i can't teach you that over a computer.

good luck
